The contrast sensors detects and compares contrast with high precision by using various light sources, such as white light, laser red light, or RGB light. The detected contrast marks are then reported to the process with minimal signal jitter. By automatically selecting the correct emitter color, it can reliably detect various combinations of colors or grayscale values. The bar graph provides additional convenience for manual adjustments.

Top performance for versatile, space-saving use in the packaging industry: The KTM contrast sensor from SICK features a high grayscale resolution and is integrated into a small, tried-and-tested housing that is also available in stainless steel. The optimized OES4 ASIC technology and a response time of 35 to 50 µs ensure the reliable and precise detection of contrast marks, even on glossy materials. The various teach-in methods of the sensor offer greater flexibility during commissioning. The integrated IO-Link interface provides access to the parameter settings. For applications with larger distances, SICK offers a laser version of the KTM contrast sensor that can detect contrast marks at distances of up to 250 mm.
