SICK development history:

1946 SICK AG is founded: Erwin Sick receives permission from the American military government in Munich to found an engineering company.

1952 The first commercially available accident prevention light curtain is presented at the Hanover International Machine Tool Trade Fair. Subsequent orders lead to the first series production and the company becomes an economic success.

1956 25 employees move with the company to Waldkirch, Germany.

1972 The first subsidiary was established in France.

1975 With the establishment of a US subsidiary, the company gradually expanded its business overseas.

1988 Erwin Sick dies at the age of 79. His wife, Gisela Sick, takes over the company and becomes its largest shareholder.

1996 Erwin Sick GmbH changes its corporate status to a stock corporation.

1999 The first employee shares were issued domestically and internationally.

2006 SICK celebrates its 60th anniversary.

2020 A company founded in 1946 with more than 50 subsidiaries and equity investments as well as numerous agencies around the world. In fiscal year 2020, SICK had more than 10,000 employees worldwide and annual group revenues of approximately EUR 1.7 billion.

SICK in China

Guangzhou SICK Sensor Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as SICK China) was established in 1994 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary and one of SICK's important branches in Asia. After years of development and accumulation, SICK China has become an influential supplier of intelligent sensor solutions.

SICK China is headquartered in Zhujiang New Town, CBD of Guangzhou, and has branches in Shanghai, Beijing, Qingdao, Shenzhen, Shenyang, Tianjin, Chengdu, Suzhou and other places. It is equipped with local customer service centers, logistics centers, technical service centers (including intelligent application centers), visual laboratories and other core support centers, forming an institutional system and business network radiating to major regions across the country, providing customers with products, systems, services and comprehensive solutions such as testing, measurement, safety protection, automatic identification, positioning, integrated control, testing control, technical services, traceability systems, and robot navigation systems. As of 2021, the number of employees exceeds 400. SICK China includes the management and operation of SICK Hong Kong.
