Mirco Detectors

Since 1971, Micro Detectors has been developing and producing a wide range of sensors for various applications: inductive, capacitive, optical, ultrasonic, safety barriers, encoders, light barriers. The accumulated experience has enabled MD to produce high-quality products at an affordable price. A characteristic of the company is the individual approach and the ability to develop custom models for various tasks.

Acquired by DATASENSING in 2021.

DATASENSING Introduction:

DATASENSING was born in 2021 with more than a hundred years of experience, integrating two brands and creating the history of sensors:

MD Micro Detectors, with its wide range of sensors manufactured using advanced product and production process technologies, and Datalogic - the Machine Vision, Sensors and Security business unit - have innovative products and consolidated presence worldwide.

DATASENSING focuses on industrial automation and is committed to the three major areas of machine vision, sensors and security. It has 222 product lines and more than 22,500 standard and custom part numbers, two advanced R&D centers, and more than 100 patents.

DATASENSING development history:

1970 Dr. Romano Volta founded Datalogic in Bologna to meet the new sensor and automation needs of the manufacturing and packaging industries, and DIELL was born in nearby Modena at the initiative of Professor Paolo Iori. Datalogic opened commercial offices in Germany in 1974, Japan in 1976 and the United States in 1978. Specializing in optoelectronic technology, DIELL launched its first M18 sensor in 1977, which would become one of the most popular formats in the world.

In the early 80s Datalogic developed new technologies for optical barcode reading and began to create important industrial applications in Europe with the launch of the exclusive Laser Scanner, which immediately became a leader in reference technology.

1984 Datalogic implements the first barcode reader at Milan Linate Airport. Datalogic opens new research, production and sales offices and by the end of the decade has factories, branches and distributors around the world.

DIELL also (continues) to grow and in the 1980s it changes its name to MD Micro Detectors and confirms itself as an important reality in high-tech research, development and production, expanding its product range with inductive proximity sensors.

The strategy defined in “Il Punto di Volta” makes Datalogic “an industrial reality of continuous and lasting growth, important at the international level for results, reputation and image” and enters the portable terminals market.

1991 MD Micro Detectors founded the Spanish subsidiary Diell Ibérica SA, launching new capacitive and ultrasonic sensors, area sensors as well as new photoelectric and inductive sensors and specializing as a manufacturer of "custom" solutions.

2001 As the new millennium dawns, Datalogic has now established itself as a world leader in automatic data capture and is listed on the Milan Stock Exchange’s New Market in 2001, continuing its expansion through various acquisitions.

From 2001 to 2009 Datalogic focuses on the industrial automation sensor market through the new company Datasensor, which launches new application sensors, the first photoelectric safety barriers and innovative vision sensors.

2012 The Chinese company, MD Micro Detectors (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., expands its manufacturing and logistics capabilities into Asia. The Spanish subsidiary is renamed Micro Detectors Ibérica SAU and continues to grow in the local market.

2021 Datalogic acquires MD Micro Detectors and, through this operation, strengthens its presence in the Italian and global industrial automation markets by integrating its sensor, safety and machine vision product portfolios.
